Author of Thrillers, Romance, and Books for Dog Lovers!

Author of Dog Books-Elizabeth Parker

Although she had always enjoyed putting pen to paper, Elizabeth Parker has been writing books since 2010.  She was inspired by her dog, Buddy, who constantly challenged her.

After writing Finally Home, Elizabeth Parker delved into another genre.  Elizabeth then began to hone her craft and wrote her first Thriller, Unwanted Dreams.  When people ask where she got the idea for it, she replies “The idea came from the title.”  After all, it was many dreams that Elizabeth had and combined them into a novel.  “Nightmares can be scary, but after waking up and realizing that it was “just a dream,” I find nightmares to be interesting.  I’m also thankful they weren’t real!  It just so happened that during that time, many of them sparked a creative outlet and thus, Unwanted Dreams was born!”

From that point, Elizabeth Parker wrote several books for dog lovers. Some are fiction, and others are non-fiction.  “There are those that are heartwarming, those that are heartbreaking and those that are a mixture of both.”

Elizabeth Parker is an advocate for animals.  Elizabeth’s main love is dogs.  “They are the ones without a voice and so many are thrown out, surrendered, neglected, abused and treated like they don’t matter.  If I accomplish anything in this life, I want it to be known that dogs (and all animals) DO matter.

“A dog is not a thing. A thing is replaceable. A dog is not.

A thing is disposable. A dog is not.

A thing doesn’t have a heart.

A dog’s heart is bigger than any “thing” you can ever own.”

Thrillers and dog books are not the only genre Elizabeth Parker writes about.  She also writes motivational and inspirational books, as well as a Suspense Romance book and a book about coping mechanisms and strategies to help overcome anxiety and depression.

"I had never written a romance novel and didn't feel as excited about it like I do when I write Thrillers.  So, I decided to write a Suspenseful Romance.  I then took it a step further and included a dog.  Once I made that decision, I couldn't write fast enough.  I loved the characters. I loved the dog, Toby, so much that I decided to name my new dog after him.  Cypress Cove-A Little Adventure. A Little Romance. A Little Suspense. A Big Dog.  It was fun writing about Phire and her eccentric family. Having been to Germany quite a bit when I was younger, I loved revisiting some of the places in my mind. There’s even some guest appearances from my previous Thriller, Occupational Hazard!

The Light at the End of the Tunnel is a book about mental health.  Although fictional, threaded between the pages are some real emotions and methods to cope. Elizabeth has strong feelings about the topic.  “Leaving the door open to discuss mental health is so important.  Often, there’s a gag order about the topic, and there shouldn’t be.  So many people suffer from anxiety and/or depression and feel ashamed that they can’t overcome it on their own.  It’s like any other illness.  Sometimes medical intervention is necessary.  As a society, we need to put more focus on treating this illness, rather than keeping it quiet.”

Elizabeth Parker is also a contributing writer for LV Pet Scene Magazine.  She's been contributing for the past fourteen years.  When she’s not writing, Elizabeth Parker also works on a Technical Support team and loves spending time with family, friends, and of course, her two golden retrievers.

Elizabeth states, “I love all animals, but golden retrievers are the ones that win my heart every time.  If I could, I’d rescue them all.”

That’s how Elizabeth’s book, “Paw Prints in the Sand” came about.  “It was one of those times when my dream had to leave my mind and take motion on paper.  It’s always been a dream of mine to open a facility to help animals.  I haven’t been able to reach that goal, but I haven’t given up on it either.  For now, it remains in the Paw Prints series, as well as in my heart.”

"In addition, I donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book to various animal rescue groups."

Elizabeth Parker has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology.  "While I love working on computers, my true passion is creating stories that entertain and some that lend helpful advice." Elizabeth continues to say, "The most rewarding aspect of writing has got to be when I receive emails from readers letting me know that my book inspired them to adopt a dog, instead of shop for a dog.”
